FAQs of Vision Recovery of America

What does VRA do?
VRA helps your visually impaired patients in your office. One of our low vision optometrists visits your practice at regular intervals to evaluate patients you have scheduled. We develop a treatment plan and recommend assistive devices, based on the VRA Low Vision Evaluation Protocol.

Who sees my patients?
Your patients are seen by VRA’s highly qualified low vision optometrists (OD) and occupational therapists (OT), who are extensively trained in low vision care. Their knowledge is continuously updated by the VRA Advisory Board. Our optometrists are objective and manufacturer-independent when recommending treatment plans and devices.

How are my patients evaluated?
VRA optometrists base their treatment plan and device recommendations on:

  • Pathology and visual performance
  • Patient’s daily challenges and desires
  • Patient’s mobility, agility, acceptance, and apprehension
  • Demonstration of various devices to identify features and benefits

Where are assistive devices made?
Optical devices are made to prescription at VRA’s partner labs in the USA and Europe. Electronic and other devices are sourced worldwide and shipped directly from our distribution center. Device delivery and training are done in the patient’s home or at the practice by one of our our optometrists or occupational therapists.

How do I know my patients are satisfied?
VRA will contact your patients after three weeks to ensure satisfaction and assess device performance. If necessary, adjustments are made or an alternate device is recommended.

Who answers my patients’ questions?
Via the VRA toll-free number, your patients have access to the VRA Help Desk for questions, technical support, and appointment scheduling.

How much does the VRA service cost?
Our service is free. In fact we will compensate you for office space, use of equipment and staff time.

How can we get started?
VRA is happy to personally introduce the benefits of our service to you. To schedue a 10-minute introductory meeting in your office, email us at info@visionrecoveryusa.com .
